What is the qualification about?
This new qualification replaces the unvented hot water course and covers all hot water systems. Updated due to the recently revised G3 Building Regulation, the HWSS course features the original content of the old unvented hot water systems training, plus the new requirements under G3 for both vented and unvented systems.
The HWSS course is recognised by Competent Person Schemes (CPS) approved to offer self-certification under Approved Document G.
Who is it for & why is it important to me?
This course is ideal for experienced operatives in the installation of domestic hot and cold vented and unvented water systems.
It is an essential pre-requisite for the Domestic Solar Thermal Installer course and upon successful completion it will also give you a competitive edge showing your customers that you are trained to the highest of standards increasing your credibility.
Candidates will undertake slightly different assessments depending on whether they require initial assessment or re-assessment. Operatives who hold the pre-existing Unvented Hot Water certificate, which is no longer being issued by Logic Certification, are eligible to sit the re-assessment.
How long is the course and what is included?
1 days in total. The cost of the course includes training, assessment, the certification fee and a course manual as well as a free lunch and refreshments throughout the day.

The course covers both vented and unvented hot water systems training, covering the following topics:
- Installation and safety
- Regulations, standards and guidelines
- Theory of hot water expansion
- Principles of hot water storage
- Design considerations
- Components and function
- Safety controls, discharge and integration
- Maintenance and servicing
How will I learn and be assessed?
The course entails both classroom and practical training, finishing with a practical & theoretical assessment at the end of the day.
What do I need to bring to the course?
All course material is provided and will be available for collection upon registration on the first day. All candidates must be aware of and familiar with Section G3 from the new Part G Building Regulations.
Who is the certification body for this course?
Logic Certification. You should receive your certificate approximately 4 to 6 weeks following successful completion.
