Who is it for & why is it important to me?
This course is aimed at experienced heating installers who wish to expand their knowledge & skills to include fitting heat pumps in domestic and small commercial properties. It will also enable you to meet the training entry requirements for the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS). Completion of the course will provide you with a Level 3 Certification, increasing your credibility and giving you the competitive edge, as well as showing your customers that you are trained to the highest of standards.
How long is the course and what is included?
This course is 4 days in total. The first 3 days will cover Air Source and day 4 will cover Ground Source Heat Pumps. The cost of the course includes training, assessment, the certification fee and course material as well as lunch and refreshments throughout the day. 0% financing is available for this course (terms and conditions will apply).
What does the course cover?
The Combined Heat Pump Installation Course will enable operatives to specify, survey, design and install domestic or small commercial heat pump systems, enlisting manufacturers support where required. Systems up to 24kW for ground source and 16kW for air source heat pumps are covered, plus the following areas:
- Background to market
- Heat pump regulations and guidance
- Principles of ground and air source heat pump operation
- Heat pump collector types
- Heat distribution
- Pre-installation requirements
- Installation materials and methods
- Filling, flushing and testing
- Setting to work, commissioning
- Heat pump servicing and fault finding
How will I learn and be assessed?
The Combined Heat Pump Installation Course entails both classroom and practical training, finishing with a practical & theoretical assessment at the end of day 3.
During the training candidates will have the opportunity to work a fully functioning heat pump rig and work on live equipment within a functioning plant room.
What do I need to bring to the course?
Any course material required will be provided by GTEC.

You will receive your certificate approximately 4 to 6 weeks following successful completion of the course.
