What is the qualification about?
This course is designed to provide a level 3 qualification and will give detailed theory and hands-on practical knowledge enabling you to apply the relevant regulations and guidance when involved in the solar photovoltaic industry.
Who is it for & why is it important to me?
The course is aimed at experienced domestic/commercial operatives wishing to include solar photovoltaics in their scope of works. The solar photovoltaic course meets the training entry requirements for the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) and upon successful completion it will also give you a competitive edge showing your customers that you are trained to the highest of standards increasing your credibility.

How long is the course and what is included?
3 days in total. The cost of the course includes training, assessment, the certification fee and a course manual as well as a free lunch and refreshments throughout the day.
What does the course cover?
This course will give candidates detailed explanations & practical examples of the Applicable Regulations and Guidance, including the following topics;
- Background to market and grant funding routes (including MCS)
- Regulations and standards
- Health & Safety considerations
- AC & DC theory
- PV cell types and benefits
- PV external and internal site survey requirements
- Solar PV circuit design
- PV system design and integration
- Setting to work and commissioning
- Solar PV servicing and fault finding
How will I learn and be assessed?
The course entails both classroom and hands-on practical training, finishing with a practical & theoretical assessment at the end of day 3. During the training candidates will have the opportunity to work on two different types of fully functioning module and inverter including roof mounting kits as well as work on live equipment within a functioning plant room.
What do I need to bring to the course?
Ideally the new “Installers Guide to Photovoltaic System” and a solar horizon estimation tool. All course material will be provided on the day.
Who is the certification body for this course?
Logic Certification. You should receive your certificate approximately 4 to 6 weeks following successful completion.
